Thanks to Sir Pat, I now have another distraction.
Urban Dead is a free-to-play browser-based multi-player game where you play the survivor or victim of a zombie outbreak in a quarantined city centre, alongside tens of thousands of others.
It uses the world’s greatest graphics engine: your imagination (more info here). It even works well on a text-based browser.
There are four character classes, Civilian, Military, Scientist and Zombie. I registered as a Civilian (Firefighter) but I’m dead most of the times. At first, I always got killed but I got my way around and, in some way, I’m getting the hang of it.
The game has Action Points (AP) which allows you to, err, choose actions in the area. This sort of prevents you from getting attached to it [when at work]. You are given one AP every 30 minutes. Planning on saving AP and continuously refreshing the page was a bad idea. Access is limited to 160 per day per IP address (hence the use of a text-based browser through a remote host. Ha ha!). The zombie groans are interesting, I actually tried doing them.
What I learned is that zombies don’t think so having “Psycho Zombie” as the title is inappropriate. But I really wanted to use psycho in this post so there.
