I’m subbing as bassist for The Kagaws tonight. I’m prepared to lose whatever dignity I have left (my apologies to the band). Admission is free (Of course. I is no rockstar.).

Two of a Kind

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

My schedule’s pretty cramped nowadays and I’m having a hard time catching up with reading all the feeds I’m subscribed to. I don’t get to listen to all the audio podcasts like I used too.

To catch up with the world, I only get to watch two 10-minute tech news podcasts. To maximize the pleasure with keeping the same amount of information, they have to be delivered by the attractive women of the industry.

Natali del Conte vs Morgan Webb
Yes, I actually took the time to edit this. I’ll start working on the altar next week.

Remember Morgan Webb from TechTV/FHM? She started her own news podcast, Webb Alert. Major plus points for a chick who can frag.

My other source of news is TeXtra. It’s hosted by Natali Del Conte, a journalist for various magazines. Saw her first on Cranky Geeks and fell in love eversince.

You’ll be staring at the pretty faces half of the time because you’ve heard the news item from the other show. If I were forced to watch only one of the two, I’d choose TeXtra. Not only because I think that Natali is hotter but I think she’s a better host and content is better.

Who would you pick?

PRC’s site seems to be down right now. The results are in a 1.5MB PDF file. You can get the results here.

Congratulations to the new nurses! Sa mga ‘di pa kumukuha ng exam, kumuha na kayo! Kailangan ko ng mauutangan!

Just A Little Break

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Many thanks to friends and colleagues who reminded me that they still read my blog. I still have two entries in draft. You have my word. You’ll soon be wasting your brain cells on my thoughts.

Meanwhile, I’ve been very busy (and this time it’s really serious). So for your ultimate pleasure, I’m giving you the chance to phostohop me.

Me and Sanya at Mint

That’s me and Sanya. She joined MYX’s VJ Search thing and won. This was taken at the victory/birthday party last August 4 at Mint, The Fort. Congratulations man!

I have another photo taken with a cute contestant that didn’t make it. But unfortunately, my photographer refuses to release the photo.

If you are disturbed by the picture above, feel free to let me know and I will take it down.

Cost Cutting

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

We had our telephone line disconnected. My Dad says it’s to cut costs. At first I thought it was okay. Later on, it became such an inconvenience.

Over dinner, I said that we should swap our cable subscription in exchange of the phone line. My mom and sister objected. The following are my arguments:

  • TV is not that good for the brain. If they want news, we have AM radio.
  • They only watch Wowowee and HBO. Wowowee is available over-the-air and they could download or rent movies.
  • Power consumption will go down.
  • My brother would spend less time watching TV.
  • We could sell some of our television sets.

Which side are you on? If you’re on my side, do you have other arguments? If you’re not (shame on you), what makes you choose the telly over the telephone?

Shoot.

Lazy Sunday

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Spent half of my afternoon on YouTube and found lots of cool stuff. It’s really annoying that YouTube can get you hooked for hours. I found a couple of stuff about my favorite games. It would be a shame to keep them all to myself so here you go.

Thriller Fireworks and Laser Show with RCT3 - I’m soooo playing this game again.

GTA: San Andreas Multiplayer - Wow, they got it working! I’m impressed. Love the last part on this clip where they all start throwing pineapple grenades at each other.

Grand Theft Auto 4 trailers - This might be the only reason to buy a PS3 or an Xbox.

GTA4 Trailer Spoof - It’s not even out yet. Ha ha!

SimCity Societies - Huge disappointment.

Since I don’t have an interesting social life, this makes me really depressed that I don’t have a working gaming machine.

Survivors

Sometimes, you’d hear funny people argue over the radios at Urban Dead.

“You do know that Over and Out is a giant Contradiction?”
“Over means you are finished and expect a reply.”
“Out means you are finished and do not want a reply.”
“Out and”
“over..out”
“Does that english lesson even matter? She’s right you know.”
“I just can not stand people who can not use radios properly.”
“How can these guys prove that RHVP is responsible? And to”
“And it is a lesson in RATEL, not English.”
“think I almost sent out a request to bounty hunters! In case”
“your wondering, I’m Doctor Mad Scientist (id=870129)”
“and I’m sure it’s the end of the world if no one points out”
“that’s it RATEL… (friggin Marine-wanker fanboy wannabe.)”
“One, I am not Amerikan. Two, The USMC Sucks.”

By the way, you can’t tell who’s broadcasting. Just from where and what frequency. Can’t wait for Lost to resume.

Psycho Zombie

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Thanks to Sir Pat, I now have another distraction.

Urban Dead is a free-to-play browser-based multi-player game where you play the survivor or victim of a zombie outbreak in a quarantined city centre, alongside tens of thousands of others.

It uses the world’s greatest graphics engine: your imagination (more info here). It even works well on a text-based browser.

There are four character classes, Civilian, Military, Scientist and Zombie. I registered as a Civilian (Firefighter) but I’m dead most of the times. At first, I always got killed but I got my way around and, in some way, I’m getting the hang of it.

The game has Action Points (AP) which allows you to, err, choose actions in the area. This sort of prevents you from getting attached to it [when at work]. You are given one AP every 30 minutes. Planning on saving AP and continuously refreshing the page was a bad idea. Access is limited to 160 per day per IP address (hence the use of a text-based browser through a remote host. Ha ha!). The zombie groans are interesting, I actually tried doing them.

What I learned is that zombies don’t think so having “Psycho Zombie” as the title is inappropriate. But I really wanted to use psycho in this post so there.

Free as in Free Beer

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Here’s another guessing game.

her: Oist
me: Oh
her: Wala. Kamusta lang.
me: Haha. Ok lang. Ikaw? Anong balita dyan?
her: Dito sa UAE?
me: Ano yan bakasyon o trabaho?
me: Ay teka, mahal bakasyon dyan e. Haha
her: Work
me: Anong trabaho?
her: Kinuha ako nung shipping company. Last year pa ko kinukuha eh. Ngayon lang ako nagdecide.
me: Kargador?
her: Marketing Exec
me: Wow manlibre ka naman!
her: Layo ko kaya
me: Abangan kita pagbalik mo. Kelan ka babalik?
her: Kamusta naman? Matagal pa. Mga next year pa. Kadadating ko lang dito no.
me: Sino na pumalit sayo sa *********?
her: Ewan ko lang. Biglaan lang punta ko dito kasi nagresign ako. Balak ko sana pahinga muna. Eh sayang naman to. Tinawagan ako ulit. Inaantay pala nila ako.
me: Hayop. Milyonaryo ka na ata pagbalik mo e
me: Pwede ka bang maging sugar-mama?
her: Sinwerte lang. Balak ko after 1 year magapply sa Emirates ng flight attendant. Kuha lang ako ng expirience dito. Sana yumaman ako.
me: Masyado kang pandak para maging flight attendant!

I love free beer!
