Unlocked iPhones Hit Asia

If I’m not mistaken my radar tells me that it’s already here locally (Philippines). My gadget master friend in Hong Kong told me that unlocked iPhones have been in the HK market for about a month and a half already. It originally came out with a price tag somewhere around USD2000, and dropped to USD1200 now.

You can shave off a hundred dollars by buying from the US and get it unlocked for USD800-USD900. Locked or unlocked, it’s still not economical but a couple of Apple zombies still bought them.

I also found out about this Turbo SIM that disguises your carrier’s SIM as an AT&T SIM. It seems that Bladox stopped selling it. All is not lost though. Thanks to eBay, you can still get one with prices averaging at USD200.

didn’t somebody released a app to unlock iphone a day or so after it was released?

I’m not sure. I think that was just a hoax. He he he

The three guys in the US were a tad late with unlocking. Little did Apple know that hackers from outside the US will get to play with their new toy.

and somebody I think was selling these for 30K!+ last month (including 2 year AT&t plan).. yugatech has posted it before. hehehe.. I haven’t seen the iphone being sold by the official retail store but the iPOd touch will cost about 20K+.

Jobs said the iPhone will be [officially] available in Asia by 2008. Boom.

Yah but only professional will afford one, the unit itself is expensive plus the data and voice plans that comes with it…

  • http://blog.jploh.com jploh

Like I said, it’s still expensive no matter what angle you look at it. My phone is a sub-1K Pesoses phone.

mine was a 4-5 year old n3660 hehehe which is now replaced with a smaller n6230i..

If ever it reach manila and its open line one; its not that bad. and it will be very good to use with SUN Cell Network hehehe… unlimited txt and call for as low as P350 a month.. then you can look for a wifi hotspot to surf the web for free..

the price tag is heavy but it is not exaggerated since most smart phones cost the same. (o2 phones and treos). My only quirk with it is the flash memory.. can’t they use a better one like the ones they have on the iPod? hehe.

ot: Ellen Degeneres gave $200 USD to a certain audience who bought an iPhone. That what I call a good rebate hahahaha…

Not quite. You’ll mostly be paying for the multi-touch interface. It lesser useful features compared to most smart phones. Looking cool has a tag price too.

you can actually install 3rd part software by next year or so since its API has been opened to developers.. Plus it uses a stripped down OSX..

  • http://blog.vmyap.b2b,ph vance

oh wait… I think apple has strick conditions and terms for future apps for iPhone. It seems that it will hack iPhone, if 3rd party appps were installed.

    Screw the iPhone.

Would you recommend some apps for the iphone 3g? Eversince the OS 4 upgrade, most of the old apps stopped working on my iPhone 3G.
