Cost Cutting

We had our telephone line disconnected. My Dad says it’s to cut costs. At first I thought it was okay. Later on, it became such an inconvenience.

Over dinner, I said that we should swap our cable subscription in exchange of the phone line. My mom and sister objected. The following are my arguments:

  • TV is not that good for the brain. If they want news, we have AM radio.
  • They only watch Wowowee and HBO. Wowowee is available over-the-air and they could download or rent movies.
  • Power consumption will go down.
  • My brother would spend less time watching TV.
  • We could sell some of our television sets.

Which side are you on? If you’re on my side, do you have other arguments? If you’re not (shame on you), what makes you choose the telly over the telephone?

Shoot.

  • So Vance, are you going to switch sides now? [grins]

Down with the TV (and cable)! Then get a Teletipid.

The greatest time waster is the TV set. The idiot box is also one of the reasons why we become less intelligent. If only half the time spent watching TV was spent reading, the world wold be a better place to live in twice over.

i'll choose the telephone over cable tv anytime.

u can watch many of the stuff offered on cable tv on the internet and even download movies that are yet to be shown in cinemas.

if you have pldt teletipid/telesulit in your area, that would be a good alternative.

i'm with cable tv hehehe. 1 reason not all shows can be downloaded on the net... but not all shows are shown on our cable too hehe.. Ooh. i like nba so with NBA TV, I can watch the game and if my cable was cut I couldn't have watch XGames 13..

Another reason i choose the telly over the phone is that I don't have anybody to call? plus if you have Globe or bayantel Dsl you don't need a phone.. Use Skype! hehe

secondly, kung may sun cell ka unlimited yun hehehe.

anyways, most household average 1k for phone usage, unless long distance and telebabad mode ka.
