Justin.tv now has a female counterpart, iJustine. I’m pretty sure their audience size will grow threefold.

Personally, I haven’t experienced enjoying their stuff. At the times I checked, Justin is sleeping and at this entry’s time of writing, Justine is not publishing right now.

Maybe that’s why reality TV has Big Brother. Someone to play god and mess around with the little toys to liven things up.

Mokey, this time I’m sure she has legs.

LINA - Open Source Everywhere

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

I have this urge to post it now. I was supposed to include it for tomorrow’s bookmarks but this one deserves its own post.

I don’t want to ruin your day with my boring geeky explanation so I’ll just grab what they wrote about this.

With LINA, a single executable written and compiled for Linux can be run with native look and feel on Windows, Mac OS X, and UNIX operating systems.

Cool, eh? Here’s their website if you want to know more.

In other open source news, FSF wants Google to share the changes they made to Linux (via Fake Steve Jobs). I think GPL is too restrictive and sometimes the FSF folks take it a bit too far. But I guess that’s okay. It’s some sort of protection. I hope all goes well.

She doesn’t post entries that much on her blog. There was a new entry yesterday so I visited her site again and saw this random picture.

If you look close enough or adjust the contrast, you’d notice that she has a binary curtain behind her (see notes).

That is sooo leet. Kitta pwns my heart. ROFLMAOMGWTFBBQ!!!111oneoneone

Tablefest

A couple of months ago, a friend of mine tried to sell me a grave. I’m not the type of person that wants to be burried. I’m the cremate me and blast-my-remains-to-space, or dump-it-in-the-ocean, or mix-it-with-the-cement-of-my-25-feet-statue type.

So I joked that I’d rather get a condo. She thought I was serious so a week later, she called me again and gave me a list of areas to choose from. I said I’ll think about it. Then last week, her assistant left me a message for a follow-up and I found out that they’re working for Moldex Realty, Inc.

I really have no intention of looking for my own place but I googled for this Moldex thing anyway. I saw their website.

Whenever I see a website that is not media-oriented that shows a splash page with Flash, I get this first impression that it’s going to be a bad website. My expectation was just about right but I sort of liked the Flash intro.

It was designed by WebFocus. I checked out their portfolio and clicked on something that would probably look neat. They have a good Flash animator. The rotating 3D mesh of a crane is cute.

What sucks is that most of the sites that I looked at used tables. It’s really a shame that most local web design studios still use tables. It’s Dreamweaver’s fault. Machine-written code. Ugh.

Adobe seems to be correcting things now. They’ve done lots of things that pleases me recently. I just hope that it happens faster or more often.

Here’s another guessing game.

her: Oist
me: Oh
her: Wala. Kamusta lang.
me: Haha. Ok lang. Ikaw? Anong balita dyan?
her: Dito sa UAE?
me: Ano yan bakasyon o trabaho?
me: Ay teka, mahal bakasyon dyan e. Haha
her: Work
me: Anong trabaho?
her: Kinuha ako nung shipping company. Last year pa ko kinukuha eh. Ngayon lang ako nagdecide.
me: Kargador?
her: Marketing Exec
me: Wow manlibre ka naman!
her: Layo ko kaya
me: Abangan kita pagbalik mo. Kelan ka babalik?
her: Kamusta naman? Matagal pa. Mga next year pa. Kadadating ko lang dito no.
me: Sino na pumalit sayo sa *********?
her: Ewan ko lang. Biglaan lang punta ko dito kasi nagresign ako. Balak ko sana pahinga muna. Eh sayang naman to. Tinawagan ako ulit. Inaantay pala nila ako.
me: Hayop. Milyonaryo ka na ata pagbalik mo e
me: Pwede ka bang maging sugar-mama?
her: Sinwerte lang. Balak ko after 1 year magapply sa Emirates ng flight attendant. Kuha lang ako ng expirience dito. Sana yumaman ako.
me: Masyado kang pandak para maging flight attendant!

I love free beer!

New Day

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Just finished people@dls-c’s revamp (see below). It looks more web-two-point-oh shiny now.

We dropped the “Your” prefix. Don’t worry, you’re still numero uno no matter what. We just needed space. It looks a lot like Technorati only cuddlier (the new Technorati design is crappy). All references to resources and friends should be diverted to feeds and people respectfully.

Just a short introduction about this website. It’s a social networking website targetted, but not limited, to the De La Salle-Canlubang community. Feel free to sign up and join the fun. We have orgies once a month!

Changed Goals

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

I’m lowering the bar from the last time I posted my latest goal.

I couldn’t sleep last night so I got up and started playing around with XUL. It was fun. I’m moving GTK and wxWidgets a couple of notches down and shifting to Python then XUL+XHR. I went to bed around 6AM.

I was thinking about how much I accomplished for this month. I did two huge things. I started moving parts of my code and new parts to object oriented PHP. Also, I’m now playing with Asterisk’s manager (I know. I’m ancient. I have to catch up with AJAM).

Back to XUL. It’s pronounced as zool (rhymes with cool). It’s short for XML User Interface Language. It’s like Microsoft’s XAML (rhymes with camel) but almost limited to forms.

Its advantage over XAML is it’s cross-platform with XULRunner (Windows, OSX and Linux). It can also run on any Gecko-based browser [as of this post's writing]. XAML, on the other hand, runs only on Windows and that would suck because not all of my users don’t use Windows.

I figured that I wouldn’t really need the fancy graphics and 3D effects that XAML offers. Maybe someday when we get holographic displays.

I was going to end this post but I got tempted to make fun of Microsoft’s branding. In my honest opinion, XMLHttpRequest and XAML are one of the best things that MSFT came up with. But man, do they suck at branding! XHR is way cooler. XUL almost sounds like zune (that brand generated a lot of buzz)! They’re lucky enough I didn’t rearrange XAML to LAMX (rhymes with lame-ksssss).

Just like sex, a three-letter abbreviation is the cool thing to have nowadays. Oh well. Can’t blame them for trying to be different.

Slow Google Reader

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Is it just me or Google Reader is really slow today?

Update: Make that anything Google.

Update 2: Is this related to Google acquiring FeedBurner?

Update 3: Globe’s DNS is fucked up. All hail OpenDNS!
