The Social WiFi
There’s a post at Yugatech about opening your AP (as in publicly sharing your broadband Internet). There’s a follow up on it too. This post is the expansion on the idea that I posted as a comment.
I suggested a network of PLDT WeRoam or Globe Visibility subscribers sharing their mobile connectivity via ad-hoc.
What will the sharers get? Instead of foneros, they get fans (Alien equivalent of Fon)! These leeches will follow and stalk you from 30 to 50 meters, depending on the barriers. I can sense a contest to tag as many sharers.
Of course, you can turn these leechers to your friends (the social part) or kick them out of your “network”.
This is some sort of a Robin Hood rich-to-the-poor thing because the sharer barely gets something in return. The sharer’s account is most likely paid by his/her employer anyway. Those things are expensive even for the most tech-savvy Filipinoy geeks. This is great for groups of people travelling together too.
If this was materialized, would you use it? If you have a WeRoam/Visibility account, would you even share it?
