Windows Media Player 11 Quirks
I only use WiMP to play videos and streaming music off my media server. The UI is fine and workflow is better (if you consider listening to music and watching movies as work). I have two minor observations.
- It doesn’t work with Windows Live Messenger’s “What I’m Listening To” feature. It’s weird that this happened since M$ has been trying to tie up all their software and hardware together.
- No new visualizations. I know nobody uses visualizations anymore but when WiMP 10 came out, there was this nice visualization for that version. I forgot the name but it’s the one with the album art, EQ graph and flying clouds.
Also, I thought that this Windows Genuine Disadvantage thing is only once? How come I have to do this for every little thing I have to do with a Microsoft label?
Update: I got it working now. Go to Tools > Options, then go to the Plug-ins tab and choose in the Background category, tick Windows Live Messenger Plugin.
