I. BPI’s So Called “Express” Service

Just got back from the airport, Dad and my sister’s on the way to Malaysia. I decided to rant more. Today’s target is BPI, Bank of the Philippine Islands.

Why did am I bashing BPI at this time of the day? Well, I forgot to include it last night and I forgot a couple of more stuff. I opened an account or just paid for an “Express” Cash Card which is basically a debit card. I only liked it because there’s no minimum balance required. One more thing that I really hate is going to the bank. Lining up and waiting for hours (exagerated) isn’t really my thing.

So I signed up for it and the lady at the accounts told me that my card will arrive in three banking days. Of course, there’s always the Filipino “time” that has to be changed. I went four banking days later and the card wasn’t there yet. I went back two days later and found out that it arrived the afternoon I went before that incident. Still slow for me and tell me to come back five banking days instead of three. You don’t need to lie to me to impress me, just don’t waste my time.

Here’s what really confuses me, I have to get the pin encoded in an “express” branch. Why can’t I do it in the branch itself? Why do they have to complicate things better? Wouldn’t simplicity equate to its “express” service? There goes another bad implementation.

I also found out that they have very few ATMs. I think I better switch back to RCBC or look for another. I even heard that wire and electronic transfer is the most expensive at BPI. I’ll just wait for the lock-in period and close it.

II. The First Philippine International Jazz & Arts Festival

Another event that I forgot to mention. Two stages, two days, tickets at two hundred Philippine Pesos and lots of good music. It’s on January 21-22, 2006 at the Harbour Sqaure, CCP Complex, Manila. I think there’s another one at Airport Casino Filipino, ParaƱaque where tickets are more expensive. The website is messed up so here’s what you’re probably looking for the schedule too, I had to dig it up.

III. Extreme Feminism

I was browsing around, searching for stuff and bumped unto this blog. It’s about wymonism or whatever. I was curious as this term was new to me. Quoted from a Google query:

Womyn is a term used by many radical feminists in order to degender the word women. Other spellings meant to perform the same function include “wimmin” (plural), wom!n, and “womban”. A common singular form, to refer to one person, is womon. A similar usage is “femal” instead of “female”. All are pronounced the same as the conventional terms.

Something new I learned for today. I think this was mentioned at LITFORM class before.

  • Hah! It's good that you know sir. Third world countries kick ass! We know how to party too. Hehehe..
  • damn, gonna miss a jazz festival cause i'm stuck in middle earth. i'm such a loser
  • Kame!!!! Sama kayo? I want to see UP's Jazz Ensemble and Makopa. Indie kicks ass.

I was in Miss Celia's LITFORM class. =p
  • thanks for the info about the jazz festival. i heard about it over the radio just yesterday and i didnt expect to hear more about it soon. anyway, im such a sucker for ska and i saw that brownbeat's playing. may kilala ka bang pupunta?

and yes, we did take up feminism in litform before (i think u were in my class...tama ba?), pero hindi radical feminism.
  • It takes a while here down south in Laguna. It took four banking days to get the card and one more for the pin to register in the whole system.
  • You can get the BPI Express Cash Card and have it PIN'd in 5 minutes at Glorietta. It will be active the next day, then you can deposit/transfer into it.
